Podcast 3000 Transcript.

Patrick Riley

Kimmy is full of energy. That's for sure. She's playful. And I have a feeling that's because it is our 3000 daily podcast. Yes, you heard right, the 3000 daily podcast. If you add all the special interviews we've done over the course of time, and special podcasts like golden age of radio tributes? Well, we've went way beyond 3000. But this is the 3000 Daily Show. And we thank you for joining us for this very special episode. One of the first things I want to do on this very special episode is thank the very loyal listeners, you those who have listened to us more than once. We deeply appreciate that we know we live in very busy times. And well, we're realistic, we understand you probably can't listen every day. But if you can, thank you for that. And whenever you need to listen, we are here. We're here to allow you to escape from the world of today. And we do that with a nostalgia based show. Heavy nostalgia heavy retro. Before Kimmy and I start reminiscing and thanking individuals who helped make this 3,000th episode possible. I want to point out we have a video that well is a partner to this this podcast. When you have the opportunity, please check it out. We have it available on our website at Riley and kimmy.com also our YouTube page, our rumble page and all our social media links. And you can find all those links at Riley in kimmy.com Aaron C Sullivan voice over talent and he provided voice imaging for us you know he's our announcer yeah so like a Don Pardo to Saturday Night Live.

Patrick Riley

Katie Roberts and Terry Moore of the group Outdated Slang for creating and singing The Riley and Kimmy show jingle

Patrick Riley

now Kimmy, would you like to try to sing the jingle?

Kimmy

Oh, I I can't even I don't want to ruin it.

Patrick Riley

Well, here is Katie's beautiful voice.

Patrick Riley

The late Shawn surface who designed the Riley and Kimmy show logo?

Kimmy

Yes, it was a beautiful logo. And he was a very talented artist.

Patrick Riley

And he actually designed it twice. He He gave us the original and he said you know I can make that better. And so we technically have to Yes. And he was he was proud of that logo and I I could never thank him enough. He is he is deeply missed.

Kimmy

Yes. Artists Michael Dharan, also known as Loco Duck, who captured us in this gorgeous drawing.

Patrick Riley

Kimmy was petrified. I was because she found out in advance that this was going to be presented at an event we were guests at. I told her probably a few days before the event that Michael had done a sketch. And you were petrified?

Kimmy

I was worried for no reason. I was I was thrilled when I saw it.

Patrick Riley

I think you were almost in tears. And he's another individual that I know that is very talented. That I can't think enough. I mean, that was just beautiful work. And, and you can you can actually find the video of when he presented that to us. It should be available on our Facebook page and maybe some other social media as well. A big thank you to Jim Cara of Carousels Collectibles. They used to be in DeLand, Florida. Now they're in Georgia, and he was the former promoter of the DeLand Comics and Collectible Convention. And Jim was a very good friend to our show a matter of fact was the first the first promoter to have us at a public event as guests.

Kimmy

Yes, I was such a memorable day.

Patrick Riley

I owe him...because for years prior to the creation of the Riley Okay, Michelle, I wanted Kimmy to do stage work with me appearances. And you were kind of petrified. But it got me hooked. And that very first event, he had his way in a corner, which was fine. And it was perfect. He didn't realize how perfect that was because it gave me a chance to hide. No. It gave me a chance to, you know, take it easy into an event. And from that day on that first event that Jim had us at you, you were hooked, weren't you? Oh, yeah.

Kimmy

Tom Rob, promoter of Daytona Beach comic book convention.

Patrick Riley

Now, Tom, is one of our early supporters. Yes, Tom, had us as guest at many events. He was part of not just the Daytona Beach comic book convention. He had other conventions, too. And he opened the door for us for appearances throughout greater Florida. And a big thank you to Tom. And matter of fact, over the course of time, he came on our show and we talked about collectibles. And you know, he matter of fact, even even found a bionic woman, an original Bionic Woman. From Kenner, now, huh. Just like Kimmy had as a kid, or or you wanted...

Kimmy

I wanted.

Patrick Riley

He did that at one of the Daytona Beach comic book conventions. Yes, he did. A fantastic events that we had with him. Just a great promoter over the past that we had the pleasure of dealing with. And speaking of collectible, somebody who knows his collectibles, Mike Kales, of Mike's dead format. Now. He is a fun freak when it comes to collectibles. Yes. And he proved that many, many times with us by sharing some of the things that he loves and that we love, like classic Megos and other vintage toys. And one time comes to mind. And you can see part of it playing with a video is when we sampled a 1970s Kenner Close 'N Play. That's a Close 'N Play record player. It operates on batteries. And he had one that totally worked. Yeah. And we demoed this at a convention site and made it available on YouTube and other social media. You can see the full video and see how that very unique toy from my childhood played out. And once again, thank you to Mike for being a supporter, one of our early supporters. Yes. We deeply appreciate it.

Kimmy

Thank you. Ed Tucker promoter of Retro Rama Collectibles show

Patrick Riley

Yes, he heavily focuses on nostalgia and was one of our early supporters and had us as guests at his events and he you know, he had like classic GI Joes and migos and, and Action Jackson figures and things like that and, and you know, Felix the Cat stuff and just just tons of nostalgia. He didn't focus on you know, a heavy focus on current, you know, like Funko Pop Vinyls. I'm not not bashing them. But he focused on nostalgia, and has been on our show in the past talking about collectibles.

Kimmy

Some great finds that his shows

Patrick Riley

Rick Shea owner of famous faces and phonies in Melbourne, Florida. Boy A big thank you to him. He's had us as guests at his store and supported us over the course of time. Yes, one of the largest comic book stores in Florida. Yes, it is. I mean, it's huge, fun place. It's a fun place. We've had fun being there as guests and being part of other guests who were part of, you know, an event at famous faces and funnies and, you know, please support him he he supported us. So if you're into the world of comic books, or looking for something in that collectible world, go to famous faces and phonies in Melbourne, Eric and

Kimmy

Patti Woller of Vicious Collectibles. For our 1,000th podcast celebration. They baked us a beautiful anniversary cake. And they made you into a cupcake zombie. Yeah,

Patrick Riley

They made me into a zombie! I couldn't believe that! A big thank you to them. They supported The Riley and Kimmy show. And we appeared in events with them over the course of time. And I still cannot thank them enough for that 1,000th celebration for that, that that cake, which I couldn't eat because of my condition. And the cupcake zombie, which I do have proudly displayed in our studio.

Patrick Riley

Jake Estrada, artist and publisher of Space Coast comics. Thank you for the support. I mean, he he was one of the early cheerleaders for us. And we deeply appreciate all the help that Jake has done over the course of time.

Kimmy

Thank you, Jake! David Grace promoter of Space Coast Comic Con who's had us as guests and has supported our show.

Patrick Riley

Yes over the course of time on many fun times at Space Coast Comic Con matter of fact, David and I share a birthday. We've had a birthday fun together at Space Coast Comic Con, and he is partnered with Jake Estrada. Jake works with Space Coast Comic Con as well. And a big thank you to both of them. Yes. I can't forget this one. He would remind me 10 seconds after seeing this video if I had a big thank you to actor, comedian, artist, and voice talent, George Lowe. George has provided special elements and has appeared as a special guest many, many times on The Riley and Kimmy show.

Kimmy

We can't forget George!

Patrick Riley

You can't forget George and matter of fact, we've had the pleasure of being guests at events with George like next to us. And it's words just don't come to me that are safe for this video to describe the fun that we have had with George. Yes, George. We love you.

Kimmy

We love you George. Hi Kids

Kimmy

And a big thank you to some of the very special guests that we've had. Like artists creator George Perez.

Patrick Riley

Eisner Award winning artist and creator took time and talk to us at a very busy event. He had commissioned sketches that he was doing at that event, but he took some time off and actually talked about the early days in his career. And I I'm still amazed that that happen. And it really touched me because he was one of the artists part of the comic book industry that as well. When I was a little kid, I was in a not a very good place and I'm not trying to look for sympathy or anything like that. But George and somebody he was connected with in the creating world, Marv Wolfman, they they opened a door for me where I could escape for a period of time. And so I cherish that interview to this day because of that connection to my childhood. And what he did now is a precious moment.

Patrick Riley

A very fun guest to the Riley and Kimmy show was actress Lana Wood. She talked about her sister Natalie and also talked about making the movie The Searchers with Jeffrey Hunter and John Wayne and her sister. And she talked about the Bond film she was in, she was a Bond girl in Diamonds Are Forever. And she was one of the nicest individuals I ever had the pleasure of talking to, or having part of The Riley and Kimmy show.

Patrick Riley

Our interview ended up on the front page of the local newspaper on Mount Dora, Mount Dora news or whatever. it's called Mount Dora Beacon. We ended up there. And I couldn't believe that actually, I didn't even realize we were being photographed for that because I was having a fun time talking to her.

Kimmy

Voice Actor Billy West, known for voicing Ren and Stimpy, and many others. Yeah,

Patrick Riley

He was one of the m&ms as an example. Yeah. Billy West, one of the nicest human beings I've ever had the pleasure to have on our show. I couldn't believe he actually came up. We were at an event he was an event at or does that make sense? We were at an event as guests where he was a guest ad. Right. And but we weren't next to him. And he came up way before the convention opened, and said, Hey, what's with you guys? Yeah, they're talking to us. And he brought up being on the show. Yeah, I couldn't believe it. And we interviewed him. And one of the it was just fun.

Kimmy

I mean, yeah, super nice guy.

Patrick Riley

This is a person who I know has probably been asked a million times about Ren and Stimpy and other voices that he's done yet. He made it like it was the first time you ever heard that question. He was like, Oh, you're asking me? Well, that might you want me to do that voice. There was none of that. Oh, so if you ever had the opportunity of meeting this, the super human being, please, please take the opportunity to meet him. This is the kind of guy who revealed to me when he was a kid. Well, not even a kid. He was a little. Let's just say he was a young adult. He stood in line for like three hours to meet Mel Blanc. Wow. He's with a bunch of kids. He was like the oldest person and he stood in line because he wanted to meet his hero. And I know if you're interested in voice work, he would love to meet you as well.

Kimmy

You Yeah, super nice warm down to earth guy.

Patrick Riley

Yes, he that's the best way put it down Earth.

Patrick Riley

I never thought as a kid sitting in front of the TV set out in the middle of the prairie. Watching the monsters that i i would have the chance to interview. Butch Patrick? Yes. Is Eddie Munster. I can't believe that that happened. Yeah, that was way cool. And I actually have to thank somebody we mentioned earlier, Jim Cara made that first connection with Butch, which has been part of our show multiple times. We've had him audio wise on the show. And we've had him on camera many times. Matter of fact, if you check out some of the video interviews we've had, you might see another famous person pop in with him. Somebody who decides to you know, steal some camera time. Yeah. And actually Butch and I had a fun moment where we gave a birthday gift. Well, it's kind of like a late birthday gift. Or like holiday gift to a certain voice actor. We gave him a book on how to make a million dollars in his voiceover work. That went over real well. But it was Butch's idea. Fun person and he's another one who does not tire it seems from talking about the shows of yesteryear. He was part of that includes Leadville, which he was part of on Saturday mornings for a period of time.

Kimmy

Cindy Morgan of Caddyshack and Tron fame

Patrick Riley

Yes, we had the pleasure of having Cindy on the show she she talked for a period of time and was really candid about making Caddyshack in the Tron film and other work she did like you were on she was on Matlock. Oh, yeah. I didn't know that till we did the interview. Ah, I didn't realize that. And the funny thing is, Cindy, at one time, had worked in the television market where Kimmy is from, and my my friends who were still in that market. I called them ahead of time, and I said, Hey, didn't Cindy work in blank market? And they're like, Yeah, I remember Cindy. So they told me some things and we got to share those stories. With her. It was a very, very special moment. It was actor, singer David Norton, who by the way, I owe Butch Patrick and his wife for setting up the interview. They did and we were all at an event. And David Norton, you might remember from American Werewolf in London from 1981 Did you you've seen that movie, right? Uh huh. And you might also remember him from the beat up pepper campaign the soft drink

Patrick Riley

And he was part of the sitcom making it. He sang the title song...which became a top 40 hit.

Kimmy

making it non stop to the top? Well, making it Yeah, okay.

Patrick Riley

Well, we relive some of that. Without Kimmy singing it.  You can see that video by the way. It's available on our YouTube page and social media. Everything linked at rileyandkimmy.com.

Kimmy

Rob Paulson, the voice of Yakko from Animaniacs, and Pinky from Pinky and the Brain

Patrick Riley

and voices in GI Joe the the animated series from the 80s. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...he was a part of the original cast. He is the voice of 1000s Yes, and I'm not kidding. And without a doubt, one of the nicest human beings I've ever had the pleasure of talking to. He granted me an extended interview. I can't believe he did. And we talked for a long period of time, about his career. And if you're interested in voiceover work and his work in the Animaniacs and pinky in the brain and other stuff, check out his autobiography because he talks about a certain medical condition that he went through that almost took his life and almost took the voice of Pinky away from him for ever. The book is something you need to read if you have a friend or family member that might be going through a cancer procedure. Because he's down to earth. He's honest and one thing full of life and hope. Yes. So please if you had the opportunity to meet Rob at an event, please do and find that book of his.

Patrick Riley

We mentioned earlier a certain Comic Book Creator artists had an impact on my childhood. Well, this one had a very big impact. Matter of fact, he saved me from dark and gloomy times. And matter of fact, took me on a course for a period of my life where I tried to enter into the world that he was in meaning I wanted to be an illustrator. I wanted to do the drawings that he did. And that is the Eisner Award winning artists creator, Neal Adams. I thought he might be a difficult interview, I was given access to Neal, the first time we've had him on the show multiple times. But the first time I was actually stunned, somebody came up to me, recognized our show at an event and said, Would you like to interview a celebrity? And I'm like, whom? And they said, Neal Adams. And I'm like, wow, that's, you know, that's my childhood. And I'm like, Are you sure he will want to do this interview? And they're like, Yes, I thought they were crazy. They said, You got to stay at least till when the convention closes to interview him, because he's busy with meeting people and sketching and, you know, doing transactions and posing for pictures and things like that. I met him with Kimmy. And I thought this is probably not going to go over well, but I was wrong. He was one of the nicest celebrities that I've ever had the pleasure of talking to.  And it was a big thrill for me, for that little kid who was out in the middle of cornfields wanting to get away and reading, you know, Batman, drawn specifically by Neal Adams. And here I am talking to him. He's being nice. Yeah, matter of fact, he had to take care of something. And he said, Let's pause the interview. And I'll be right back. I thought,  that said he's gone. But he came back. And we've had him on the show other times as well. And if you ever had the opportunity to meet him, please, please take that opportunity.

Kimmy

Definitely. Artist and Comic Book Creator Billy Tucci

Patrick Riley

Yes, a very talented person. He's actually in the self publishing too. He's been part of the big guys and has his own works that are available and one of the nicest friendliest people you've ever had the opportunity to have some time with. Please check out Billy's work. We have links available on our website at rileyandkimmy.com. Artists Tony S. Daniel. Probably, I would say probably best known for his work on Batman also doing Batman's evil character Joker. Worked on other things as well. very down to earth, very easy to talk to very thankful to have had the opportunity to have him on the show more than once.

Kimmy

Yeah, the late Jeremy Bullock, the original Boba Fett and the Star Wars film franchise.

Patrick Riley

I'll tell you some I was a little kid when I got a chance to meet him. That's what it felt like. Yeah, I mean, it did.  We were at a very big convention. And Kimmy is with me. And somebody said, Hey, would you like an interview? Somebody who's known for Star Wars? And I'm like, whom? And they Said, "Jeremy Bulloch." I couldn't believe I'm actually talking to, you know, the guy who played Boba Fett originally. And I never imagined when I was watching The Empire Strikes Back for the very first time. And matter of fact, the 84 times I saw it in the movie theater, I'd be interviewing him. He was very warm, very friendly. And it's a moment that I will cherish forever. We've had our share of actors who have been part of well, different types of genres, and one of them being well, actor and musician, Mike Christopher. Now he's known for the 1978 film Dawn of the Dead.

Kimmy

He was made into an action figure.

Patrick Riley

Yes, from that movie. Now. He's done other horror projects as well. And we've had him on the show a few times, even talked about his music. His music is different. I love it, and I wish it'd be used in certain Productions. Very, very gifted person,

Kimmy

artist Athena finger, the granddaughter of Bill Finger co creator of Batman.

Patrick Riley

Yes. And she is, well, a historian be the best way to put us of what her grandfather did. And we've had her on the show many times. And she's been a very big supporter of The Riley and Kimmy show. She has been an events we have been guests at. And you know, she was guest as well. And if you have the opportunity to meet Athena, please, please do and she will talk about Batman with you.

Patrick Riley

Radio personality and Comic Book Creator. I can put them together. When I'm talking about Russ Rollins. We had the pleasure of dealing with his publisher, comic book publisher, Jeff Kaufman, the two of them talking about well, you know, Russ's creation, Jolly Jane. And maybe someday we'll see it being made, you know, on screen somewhere.

Patrick Riley

Russ was down Earth fun. And he's been a supporter of the Riley and Kimmy show. He didn't have to, you know, you know, promote us in any capacity. But he wanted to do not just one interview more than one and has, you know, shared our material and been a big supporter.

Kimmy

He's a good guy. Yes, he is. Artists Jason Fabok

Patrick Riley

Known for his work in the world of DC Comics. One of the most talented individuals that as a current artist that we've had the opportunity to talk to, and talk to you about behind the scenes in the world of or even how he created something, and what was like his hardest thing to actually draw on. And he was just fun and full of life. And we've had him on the show more than once. And he's one of those cats. If you have a chance to meet at an event, please take the time, find his work at your local comic book shop, and have him sign it and and you know, talk to him about the creations.

Patrick Riley

I'm combining two titles. He's an actor, and he is an artist. I don't want to say crafter because he creates some very different type of art. He deals with multiple mediums. And that is actor Tim proctor. We've had the pleasure of having him on the show. Many times you might recognize him as a zombie from The Walking Dead. He's been I don't know how many episodes it's different zombies, but he he's appeared many times. And he is at events, not just talking about working with The Walking Dead. He has art that he creates. And it's beautiful art it is please check out his his work his material. He's been a very, very big supporter of The Riley and Kimmy show over the years. And we are deeply appreciative of, you know, the times he's spent with us and matter of fact, in makeup, he's done some zombie stuff as you can see.

Patrick Riley

You have been a positive part of our lives. And because of our show, we have been touched in so many ways, especially by those who have found a moment of joy and happiness with us. An example, when one of our loyal listeners, Todd Merrick of Clermont, Florida sang our jingle at an event.
